Petter Berndalen
Percussion
It all began with hard rock drumming and hand blisters. Some
years later the essence of jazz was being carefully tasted, and
eventually it took over entirely. It resulted in a period of
intense music studying after high school.
The Swedish folk music which had accompanied Petter running around in the grass
as a child had dug its roots in deep, but the drum kit didn’t have a natural
function in this music.
He started investigating alternative ways of playing folk music with help from
two great sources of inspiration; Terje Isungset and André Ferrari.
These last years, Petter has delved deeper into the world of rhythm.
With the fiddlers Sven Ahlbäck and Ellika Frisell he has found
his own way of playing Swedish folk music on his drums.

The best thing about playing with Hanna and Mia is that together
with them, I get to live out my passion for musical details,
plus they also think that it gets more and more fun the longer
you keep at it.
